Salt Paper is a magazine about the food we grow, cook, and gather around. We began with forty pages, a saddle stitch, and a conviction that food deserves the pace of a good essay — slow, attentive, and unafraid of digressions.

Every issue sets a table: Kitchen Notes for the work of the stove, Growers for the work of the soil, Table for the work of gathering, and Archive for the work of remembering. The magazine is printed twice a year, and between issues we publish stories here, in this small corner of the internet.

We are independent, which means we answer to no one but our readers and the seasons. If you would like to write for us, or set a table with us, the letters column is open.
